Elementis plc, UK sold SRL Dental GmbH (“SRL”), Germany to Fidelium GmbH, a private equity investor. SRL is a key player in gypsum and investment materials with a focus on the dental industry in Germany and Western Europe.
SRL’s current business began with a patent for the production of alpha hemihydrate in the mid 1900s. The products were originally used in the building industry, although the array of applications has expanded to specialties for dental and technical applications.
The deal includes the production plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany where the production of plasters, resins, investment materials and synthetic calcium sulphates occurs with a workforce of approximately 57 employees.
Elementis plc is a global speciality chemicals company that offers performance-driven additives that help create innovative formulations for consumers and industrial applications. They employ over 1,300 people at more than 30 locations worldwide and reported sales of USD 874mn in 2019.
Fidelium is an internationally oriented private equity firm backed by a number of German business families and focuses on acquisitions with significant value-creation potential which can benefit from Fidelium’s operational engagement.
